Age

I talk to many people on line, and one of the things that keeps coming up is age, I can’t understand why people worry so much about their age; to some it seem a big deal.

To me age is just a number that people use, it like telling the time, you need numbers there, so the clock works, well people need to count off the years, and to me that all it is, a way of counting time.

So why is it a big deal to some people, dose our age make us who we are, dose it define us in some way, I don’t think so, I know it doesn’t stop us from doing things we want to do, sometime we need to do them a new way as we get older but we still do them.

Even with babies, we put an age on things, baby is eight months old, he should be sitting , have teeth, standing or whatever the book say, doesn’t baby always do it when he ready, sometime sooner sometime later, but he always does it in his own time.

Why should people retire at any given age? If someone feels they can work longer, why should they retire, some people still have so much to offer as they get older, something’s are learnt from year of experience, not from a book or the net, if they are in good health and want to keep working a bit longer, good on then, it keep that active and out amongst people and that good for everyone.

Today when I was in town, I had done my shopping and was waiting for Ross, who was off seeing a mate, I sat chatting to a man of I thought of about seventy, he and his wife where in town for four days they were going north to the warm weather for the next two months as their home was down south.

He told me, how he nearly lost his wife to a brain tumour twenty years ago, we agreed he was very lucky to still have her, then he said it was her birthday next week and she would be seventy nine, and that every year they when away for their birthdays, I sat there wondering if his wife seventy nine just how old he was so I ask, he said he was eight five, he told me when he was home he still when to work two days a week, because he like to be with them “young ones” and that he enjoy showing them things that he knew how to do.

This is why I think he looked and was so well for his age, this man enjoy life and what he did, being eighty five should not stop him from doing, thing he liked.

Age does not make us who we are, what make us who we are I think is how we see ourselves, who we are is what in our mind , body, heart and soul, it not in our age or how others see us.

“Age is just a number we use to count the passing years”

Legacy of an Adopted Child

Kris
Nikki

Some of you may have read this before on WLS, but Im having a Mum moment

For Nikki and Kris with Love

Legacy of an Adopted Child

Once there where two women, who never knew each other,

One you do not remember, the other you call Mother,

Two different live, shaped to make your one,

One become your guiding star, the other become your sun,

The first gave you life, the second taught you to live it,

The first gave you the need for love and the second was there to give it,

One gave you a nationality, the other gave you a name,

One gave you the seed of talent, the other gave you aim,

One gave you emotions, and the other clamed your fears,

One saw your first sweet smile, the other dried your tears,

One gave you up it was all she could do,

The other prayed for a child and God lead her straight to you,

And now you ask me through your tears, the age old question through the years,

Heredity or environment, which are you the product of ?

Neither, my darling neither, just two different kind of Love

We May Not Always Realize

We may not always realize

That every thing we do,

Affects not only our lives

But touches others, too!

For a little bit of thoughtfulness

That shows someone you care,

Creates a ray of sunshine

For both of you to share.

Yes, every time you offer

Someone a helping hand …

Every time you show a friend

You care and understand …

Every time you have

A kind and gentle word to give …

You help someone find beauty

In this precious life we live.

For happiness brings happiness

And loving ways bring love;

And Giving is the treasure

That contentment is made of.

What would you do if i gave two Million Dollars

We were out to dinner the other night and one of the older men at the table ask us all a question, and it got most people think, so I through I would ask it of you all.

I’ve won millions of dollars in lotto, I want to give you each two million dollars, but there are rules for it use,

1. You must buy one thing for yourself, it must mean a lot to you, the cost of doesn’t matter, it just has to mean something to you,

2. You must give some money to two charities and these too must mean something to you, you have to have a reason for picking these two charities.

3. The rest is yours to do as you please with.

Some people knew right away what they would do with the money, some had to think, and I have to say the replies from some surprised me, not because I thought what they were saying was wrong or out of place, but because they look at the world in a very different way to me, and yes I have to say I learnt a lot about people I thought I knew and a lot about myself too.

What would I do with my two Million?

For me,

I would buy the first edition of a book call “For the Term of His Natural Life” by Marcus Clark it a book I’ve read many time and the copy I have now is very dog eared as it has a soft cover and many people have read it over the years.

My two Charities,

Eastern Child Welfare in Korea, for looking after our Children till they became ours and for looking after the many hundreds for children, who need their help,

And

The Flying Doctor, for they truly do save live every day of the year, I have seen what they do and I know people who are a live Thanks to the Flying Doctor and the wonderful job they do.

The left over Money

I would give a helping hand to my family and friend that need it

Things that Remind Us how Lucky We are!!! 12 July 2010

Nikki Numberplate

You know how you look at something and it make you stop and think how lucky you are, well for me it a picture on our fridge, it of our Daughter Nikki’s car, it was taken seven years ago, by the towtruck driver, who come to her accident to tow the car away, the same man took the numberplate off the car and give it to her to keep because he didn’t believe she was standing in front of him a live with just a cut on her arm. Nikki still has the numberplate.

Many people have said I should take the picture down, but I won’t, every time I see it, it tell me just how lucky I am to have a daughter, people who come to the house ask what happen, and I tell them, most say it was a long time ago why don’t you take it down, my reply is always the same,” it is staying right where it is”.

The accident was just that an accident, the front tyre blow, there was no speed, drink or drugs, it was just an accident. But if seeing that picture make one person stop and think about what they do when they get behind the wheel of a car, then the picture done it job.

So many people are dying in car accidents, and they are not all young, some are older enough to know better, but yet the killing on our roads goes on, it like people don’t care, how do we make them care, I don’t know.

How do you stop someone from drinking, taking drug and driving or from speeding on our roads? The Police can’t stop them, how can they, the only way for the Police to be able to stop them would to have an Officers outside every house, shop, hotel in the world.

Maybe some of these people need to get the phone call I got and so many other people have gotten to say there been an accident and someone they love has been hurt, maybe that the only way they will stop doing stupid things in car.

In Magnet we had a Police officer, who was in his late twenties and he had even at that age been to so many accidents, he use to say that part of everyone learning to drive, they should seeing what damage a car could do, he thought people should be made to visit place like rehabilitation hospitals, is that the way to go, I real don’t know, all I know is it sickness me to see so many white cross along the side of our roads, and yes I know that some of the cross are from just plane accident that no one could have stop , but so very many are not, a lot are from people doing stupid things like driving drunk and the really sad part is a lot of the time those hurt are not even in the cars they are just innocent bystanders.

I have been Bless in more way then one both my kids have walked away from accidents, so many family have not been so lucky, and yes I know the pain of losing a Brother to a stupid car accident and I would not wish that pain on anyone, for it change you and your family for every.
